Celebrating in Hawaii is a special event due to the large Asian-American population among the Hawaiian Islands. 

In addition to the amazing fireworks display, festival participants enjoy celebrations in Honolulu’s Chinatown including exploring the diverse culture and traditions of Hawaii.

Hawaiians celebrate the Chinese New Year and Spring Festival over several weeks, and the Chinese New Year Festival is celebrated specifically on January 25, 2020.

Chinatown is decorated brightly in colorful decorations, flags, streamers and traditional red lamps along with inscriptions with messages of good luck to all.  During the Chinese New Year Festival, Honolulu comes to life with a variety of special events, food and music to celebrate Chinese culture.

The Chinese people believe that the red color is very auspicious and will bring good luck and prosperity. On the New Year Day, the entire Chinese population is dressed in red clothes.
