If you will be visiting Oahu in 2020, chances are you're planning on spending some time on the beach, hiking, snorkeling, enjoying great food and perhaps attending a Luau. But there are also some fantastic Oahu Events taking place on our beautiful island.

Sony Open – Hawaii
Dates: January 6 to 12, 2020

Whether you enjoy watching golf, playing a round or two or just watching the sports best golfers play during the Sony Open in 2020. The Sony Open is the first major golf event of the year in the Hawaiian Islands and it all begins on January 6, 2020! This amazing event will bring 144 of the best golfers in the world to Oahu to compete for their share of $6.6 million dollars in prize money. New Year’s Ohana Festival 
Dates: January 12, 2020
Location: Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii - 2454 S. Beretania St, Honolulu, HI 96826

This is one of our favorite Oahu Events! The New Year’s Ohana Festival is a fantastic celebration taking place at the Japanese Cultural Center. This year marks the 27th annual event that features amazing Japanese food, music, entertainment, cultural demonstrations, martial arts demonstrations and arts & crafts all representing the Japanese culture. Chinese New Year Celebration - 2020
Dates: January 17 & 18, 2020 – Chinese New Year is on January 25, 2020
Location: Primary celebrations are in Chinatown, Honolulu

The Chinese New Year is an amazing event that locals and visitors look forward to each year! The Chinese New Year that begins on January 25, 2020.  This event is a wonderful family friendly event that begins on the 17th and 18th of January and includes wonderful music, great food, cultural performances, entertainment, Dragon dances and more. The Chinese New Year Celebration takes place at the Chinatown Cultural Center in the heart of Chinatown and is celebrated among the many stores and restaurants in Chinatown.


Honolulu Festival
Dates: March 6 – 8, 2020, 2020 – Chinese New Year is on January 25, 2020
Location: Hawaii Convention Center - 1801 Kalakaua Ave, Honolulu, HI 96815

This 3-day event is a celebration of the cultures and relationships between the people and regions of Hawaii and the Pacific Rim. The festival includes music, art, crafts, dance performances and food from Hawaii and the Pacific Rim. The Grand Parade marks the end of the Festival and travels from Saratoga Road and along Waikiki Beach on Kalakaua Avenue.


Prince Lot Hula Festival
Dates: July 2020 (dates to be announced)
Location: Iolani Palace - 364 S King Street, Honolulu, HI 96813

In 2020 the Prince Lot Hula Festival will be in its 42nd year! This wonderful event is hosted at the Iolani Palace in the beautiful Moanalua Gardens.  The Prince Lot Hula Festival honors Prince Lot Kapuāiwa who later reigned as King Kamehameha V and brought back the once forbidden Hula. The festival attracts over 15,000 spectators including locals and visitors alike.

Lei Day in Hawaii is a popular event taking place on the first day of May 2020 in the Queen Kapi’olani Park in Waikiki. This free celebration is open to the public and includes Lei making contests, Hula performances, live music, tasty food & more. Shinnyo Lantern Floating Festival
Dates: May 25, 2020 - Memorial Day
Location:  Ala Moana Beach Park - 1201 Ala Moana Blvd, Honolulu, Hawaii 96814

This very special event is attended by up to 40,000 residents and visitors who gather at Oahu’s Ala Moana Beach Park to light the beautiful lanterns to celebrate or remember a special person or event in their lives. Attendees will enjoy participating with lighting a lantern or by watching others and listening to Japanese and Hawaiian music during the event. 68th Annual Waikiki Ho‘olaule‘a Festival
Dates: September 19, 2020
Location: Kalakaua Avenue

The Waikiki Ho‘olaule‘a is Hawai‘i’s largest annual block party that takes place on the beach front road of Kalakaua Avenue. 74th Annual Floral Parade
Dates: September 26, 2020
Location: Kalakaua Avenue

The 74th Annual Floral Parade is the last of the Aloha Festivals taking place on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki. This amazing parade includes floats decorated with beautiful flowers, marching bands, Hula dancers and riders on horseback showcasing the Hawaiian traditional art of Pa’u riding. ‘Food & Wine’ – enough said, we’re interested! Vans Triple Crown of Surfing
Dates: November 13 to December 20, 2020

The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing brings together the very best surfers in the world who come to Oahu to take on the monster waves of the North Shore. Honolulu Marathon

The Honolulu Marathon brings together established runners and fans from around the world to enjoy the 4th largest marathon in the U.S. The Honolulu Marathon includes a total of 3 events; Kalakaua One Mile Run/Walk, the Start to Park 10K Run and of course the ‘big race’ the Honolulu Marathon. This race includes (in our opinion) the most beautiful scenery of any marathon, along Waikiki Beach, Diamondhead and more. The Honolulu Marathon is unique in that there are no participant limits, and no time limit – the race does not finish until the last runner crosses the finish line and all finishers receive a medal and marathon shirt. New Year’s Eve in Oahu – 2020

Celebrating the end of the year and the start of the New Year on Oahu is an especially wonderful event! There are many ways to ring in the New Year on Oahu with various parties, a romantic beachfront dinner, nightclubs or one of our favorites, a walk on Waikiki Beach at midnight watching the waves caress the soft sand under your feet as you plan for what the New Year will bring.
