Oahu Things to Do: Oahu's Best Beaches

Our Oahu Travel Blog article, 'Oahu Things to Do: Oahu's Best Beaches,' highlights only a few of the beautiful beaches on the Island.

For many people, a visit to Oahu centers around one feature of our beautiful Island: The pristine beaches.  This Oahu Travel Blog article, 'Oahu Things to Do: Oahu's Best Beaches,' introduces you to just a few of the many wonderful Oahu Beaches you can explore during your visit.

The beaches are certainly not the only place to spend to time during a visit, but many choose to pack nothing but some flip flops, a few bathing suits, and sunscreen and spend their entire stay soaking up the sun and the unforgettable views.

There are many beautiful beaches to explore during your next visit to Oahu, from the world-famous Waikiki Beach, located just a short stroll from Ambassador Hotel Waikiki, to the North Shore beaches that welcome world-famous surfers who take on the giant waves during the winter months.

Oahu’s North Shore Beaches

Waimea Bay
The winter surf attracts the best surfers from all over the globe. While the winter waters are not suitable for novice surfers, those who aren’t up to tacking the monster waves like to come and watch the pros do their thing. If you visit during the summer, the waves at Waimea Bay are calmer and suitable for swimming and snorkeling.

Ehukai Beach (Banzai Pipeline)
If you’re an experienced and skilled surfer, taking on these waters could be on your bucket list. It’s considered one of the most dangerous beaches in the world because of the massive, powerful waves. If you plan on taking on these waters, be sure that you have the required skills and experience. If you’d just like to see some of the most impressive surfing on the Island, this Oahu Beach is the place to do it!

From world-famous Waikiki Beach to the North Shore beaches that welcome world-famous surfers during the winter, there are many beaches to explore during your next visit to Oahu.

Fancy drinks on a beach
Not into surfing? That's okay! Relaxing with a cold drink and a good book is another way to enjoy our gorgeous beaches.

Oahu’s Windward (East) Coast Beaches

Lanikai Beach
This award-winning beach is a bit off the beaten path, but after being named the Number 1 beach in the world by Condé Nast back in 1996, this well-kept secret was revealed to the world. The docile waters are perfect for a family day at the beach, and you can easily kayak to 2 small islands located not far from the shore.

Oahu’s South Shore Beaches

Waikiki Beach
The world-famous Waikiki Beach attracts about 4 million people every year. The jaw-dropping views of Diamond Head and the calm waters make it easy to see why this Oahu Beach is one of the most popular on the Island. As mentioned above, Waikiki Beach is just a short walk from our Honolulu Hotel, so it’s a favorite with our guests.

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve
Family-safe snorkeling, gorgeous views, and the chance to see wildlife are what helped land this Oahu Beach on our list of favorites. Less crowded than Waikiki Beach, it’s a good choice for those who aren’t fans of a packed beach.

Swimming, kayaking, surfing, and other beach-related fun are among the most popular Oahu Things to Do. Whether you’re coming for a few days or a few weeks, be sure to carve out plenty of time to visit these and other gorgeous Oahu Beaches.
