1. Stop at Nuuanu Pali Lookout
Location: 6301 Pali Highway, Honolulu, HI 96744

From Honolulu, head over the Pali Highway (61) to the Nuuanu Pali Lookout, the site of the Battle of Nuuanu. Here, in 1795, King Kamehameha I won his battle to unite Oahu under his rule. This battle took hundreds of soldiers lives, many of whom fell off of the sheer cliffs. When you visit Nuuanu Pali Lookout, bring a jacket and watch your hat. It gets chilly and windy!

2. Visit Byodo-In Temple

As you travel down Pali Highway, take Kahekili Highway (83) through Kaneohe to Likelike Highway (63). Just about 3 miles down, you will find yourself in the Valley of the Temples cemetery, which leads to the Byodo-In Temple. Build in the 1960s, this striking temple is a replica of the 950-year-old Byodoin Temple that resides in Uji, Japan. The Byodo-In Temple and its grounds is one of the most scenic spots on the island of Oahu.

3. Explore Kualoa Ranch
Location: 49-560 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe, Hawaii 96744

Kualoa Ranch, also called the Kuala Private Nature Reserve, is a special place on Oahu. This ranch is comprised of two adjoining valleys that meet the ocean, and it has often been used as a filming location for television shows and movies including Lost and Jurassic Park. Kualoa Ranch offers tours like Movie Site Tours and Jungle Expedition Tours, and it is a great place to enjoy activities like ATV riding.

4. Relax on Kailua Beach
Location: Kailua, Hawaii 96734

An afternoon spent on Kailua Beach is a treat. Here, on this beautiful stretch of sand on Oahu’s Windward Coast beach, you can sun and play while you watch kayakers and swimmers in what are usually calm waters. In 1998, Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman (Dr. Beach) named Kailua Beach the Best Beach in America.

5. Check Out the Scenery in Lanikai

In Lanikai, you will see some of the most stunning and expensive homes on the island of Oahu. Lanikai Beach, the 1996 Best Beach in America according to Dr. Beach, offers views of the small Mokulua Islands.

6. Spend Time at Bellows Field Beach Park
Location: 220 Tinker Road, Waimanalo, Hawaii 96795

Bellows Field Beach Park is often considered one of the best beaches on Oahu. Here, enjoy wading in crystal blue water and then rest for a bit on the fine white sand. Bellows Field Beach Park is divided into 2 sections, the public side and the military side. You will only be able to visit the public side, on the weekends since the military side hosts training during the week.

7. Hike to Makapuu Point Lighthouse
Location: Makapuu Point, Honolulu Hawaii

Located on the eastern-most point of Oahu, overlooking the Windward Coast, Makapuu Point Lighthouse offers scenery like no other. Built in 1909 and situated on a 600-foot cliff overlooking Makapuu Beach, this shining beacon of a lighthouse has recently been renovated and the trail to the lighthouse features many memorable lookout points.

8. Visit Sea Life Park Hawaii
Location: 41-202 Kalanianaole Highway #7, Waimanalo, Hawaii 96795

Sea Life Park Hawaii is a marine mammal park that features an aquarium and a bird sanctuary. Situated in Waimanalo, near Makapuu Point, Sea Life Park Hawaii features interactive exhibits that let guests get close to sea lions, dolphins and rays. Have you ever dreamed of feeding a sea turtle? 9. Take Pictures at Maunawili Falls
Location: Kailua, Hawaii

Hike the Maunawili Falls Trail to enjoy picture perfection on our island of Hawaii. These Falls serve as a reward for those who can weather the terrain on the Maunawili Falls Trail, which is not an easy feat. To get to the Falls, we suggest you set out early, before 3 p.m. That way you can get back before dark. And, keep in mind that there is no signage on the trail and many parts of the trail have eroded over time. This is not a hike for beginners.

10. Walk Through the Friendship Garden
