Lanikai Beach Oahu
The Mokulua Islands feature bird sanctuaries on them which can be visited by boat, or Kayak which is a popular activity.  There is also a beach cove on one of the islands.

1.    Lanikai Beach
Location: Kailua
Distance from Ambassador Hotel Waikiki: 20 Miles

Picture a mile of powder soft sandy beach and calm turquoise water and you will see Lanikai Beach. The water on Kailua Beach is calm due to the offshore reef that breaks the surf making the waters calm and ideal for novice swimmers. Lanikai Beach is perfect for a relaxing day on the beach or swimming in the calm waters with the world famous Mokulua Islands of in the distance.  The Mokulua Islands feature bird sanctuaries on them which can be visited by boat, or Kayak which is a popular activity.  There is also a beach cove on one of the islands.

 

Waikiki Beach Oahu
Waikiki Beach is located just across the street from many shops, great restaurants, vendors selling or renting water sports gear, sunscreen, water and practically anything you may need.

2.    Waikiki Beach
Location: Waikiki
Distance from Ambassador Hotel Waikiki: 2 Blocks

Ahhh, Waikiki Beach.  This is obviously one of the most famous beaches in the world.  If you will be staying in Waikiki, you will become familiar with this beautiful beach.  Waikiki Beach offers a variety of options for its visitors.  You can choose to lay on the soft white sandy beaches and just enjoy the weather, sun and people watching and the view of Diamond Head in the distance.  If you want to be a bit more active you can swim in the calm and easy surf or in the walled off lagoon areas that are calm enough for children and beginner swimmers.  You can also choose to take a surfing lesson or two from the Waikiki Surf School housed on the beach.  

If you want to enjoy a little sailing, you can take a cruise around on one of the Catamaran’s and have a Mai Tai while you enjoy a view of Waikiki Beach from the water. Waikiki Beach is located just across the street from many shops, great restaurants, vendors selling or renting water sports gear, sunscreen, water and practically anything you may need.

 

Sunset Beach North Shore
Although Sunset Beach is home to waves as high as 20+feet in the Winter months, during the Summer months the waves are more manageable for less experienced swimmer, snorkeling, surfers and body boarders.

3.    Sunset Beach
Location: Pupukea
Distance from Ambassador Hotel Waikiki: 41 Miles

When most people imagine the beaches of Oahu, they think of either the peaceful pace of  Waikiki Beach or the massive waves of Sunset Beach.  Sunset Beach is located on Oahu’s North Shore Located on the North Shore of Oahu just off Kamehameha Highway.  Originally called Paumalu, Sunset Beach is one of the most famous surfing beaches in the world, which is why one of the Van’s Triple Crown Surfing Championships is held here each year.  Although Sunset Beach is home to waves as high as 20+feet in the Winter months, during the Summer months the waves are more manageable for less experienced swimmer, snorkeling, surfers and body boarders.

 

Kailua Beach Oahu
Located just 30 minutes from Waikiki, Kailua Beach is easy to access and popular for its beauty and a large 30-acre public park and 3 miles of soft sandy beach.

4.    Kailua Beach
Location: Kailua
Distance from Ambassador Hotel Waikiki: 18 Miles

‘Best Beach in America’ – and many other notable recognitions for Kailua Beach make it a top pick for a ‘must visit’ beach while  visiting Oahu.  Located just 30 minutes from Waikiki, Kailua Beach is easy to access and popular for its beauty and a large 30-acre public park and 3 miles of soft sandy beach. Kailua Beach is crest shaped to create a calm bay with an offshore reef which makes this beach ideal for swimming, snorkeling and kayaking.  

One of the best aspects about Kailua Beach is that it’s usually half-empty during weekdays so you can easily find your own private secluded spot for the day.  Just south of Kailua Beach sits the Mokulua Islands which are accessible by boat or Kayak. One of the islands, Flat Island has a Bird Sanctuary that is popular with visitors.

Kailua Beach also features a number of vendors selling and renting watersports equipment in case you forget yours.
